Clivia in Summer

I started painting sporadically between 2000-2010. I had been teaching classes in watercolor and oil/acrylic painting and frequently did demos for my students. This pursuit was a throwback and enjoyable for me.

Although i did not have a painting studio I had a wooded sanctuary with gardens and trees and a large deck. I found the rolls of linen I had purchased back in 1988 and I knew how to stretch canvases. Using the largest stretcher bars that fit into the back of my SUV where i would sometimes store an in-progress canvas and paints overnight. My backyard became my studio and I painted quickly, start to finish out in the air. And then the paintings would be stacked in my living room and glanced at from time to time. Eventually they went into a large closet. not to be seen again for decades.

I exhibited a few times and then went back to my digital photography. Occasionally I still pick up a brush.
